Shabby Chic Pink 

It has been on my mind for some time to create a Pink Shabby Chic Christmas Cottage.  Pink and White, Lacy, Light and Sparkling.

Of course, there had to be pink trees.  These are standing beside a pink sledge adorned with a white wreath, white roses and pink pine cones.  Note the tiny shelf on the wall with a pink birdhouse.  The rose trimmed window box also has pink and white flowers, white pearl ornaments and lots of greenery.

This is the first house in which I installed a doorbell.  This one plays Westminster Chimes.  Cool!

This little one-room cottage is battery lighted and furnished, each item handmade and/or adorned.

Beginning with the rose accented birdcage light...........

travel on to the pink lace and pearl-trimmed Christmas tree.  

Then to the handmade and lighted fireplace.  There is a lace-trimmed stocking hanging there in anticipation.

Once again I've painted and lighted a trio of tiny putz houses.  These, along with the tiny pink tree, make a delightful mantle scene. (The fireplace and putz  houses are on a separate switch incorporated in the back of the fireplace).

Nighttime finds a warm glow within............

 

and without.

Wisteria Cottage

Wisteria Cottage started out as a Reader's Retreat.  I love to read and decided to design a cozy place to get away with tea, cookies and good books.

but...... a lovely lady named Kathy contacted me and asked if I could revamp Wisteria Cottage into a "Sewing Sanctuary" for her.

So the transformation began.

At first I added a tiny Singer treadle machine then an old fashioned tomato pin cushion, scissors, tape measure, handmade spools of thread and a stool that says "I'd rather be sewing".

Of course any seamstress needs an armchair sewing caddy trimmed in lace...........

and a "bag" with all her favorite sewing notions.  She also introduced me to the book "The Quilt Makers Gift" which I created in mini form for her.

Now all of her time isn't spent sewing.  Some time needs to be set aside for notes to friends.

And if you climb the stairs to the loft..............

you'll also find a comfy day bed covered in petit point pillows and  lighted with a lavender flower chandelier where she can still enjoy that tea, cookies and a book or two.

Overall, I believe Kathy was pleased with the transformation.

Each Cottage is designed and made from scratch.

Most often, I have one item that leads me in my design/decoration.  In this case it was a set of lovely double doors which I painted "lipstick red".

From that point, traditional Christmas colors took over and the wreaths, flower boxes, sleigh etc., took on a life of their own.  I especially liked the tiny pine cones and Christmas roses.

I wanted to do something different with the loft lighting so used the "strands" of battery powered lights behind sheer fabric for the loft back wall.  It gives a soft glow which I found perfect.

My all time favorite accent for this Cottage was this tiny Putz House.  These are "micro miny" created by Karin Korbin and found on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/karincorbin.  I painted, glittered and then lighted this one with a micro LED light.

An evening scene shows the warmth of all the lighting.

It's all the little things that make Creative Mini Cottages such fun.

Birdcage Cottage - SOLD

I'm never sure which is more fun, creating a new cottage or furnishing it. I started the palette for you with Birdcage Cottage, vintage pinks and greens with lots of handmade roses strewn about. Now the rest is up to you..........

Birdcage Cottage was named for the transformed light in the loft.  All Cottages are battery lighted.

All of my cottages are handmade, not from kits. In this case all of the roses were also made by hand, one petal at a time. These are fun to do and I will post a flower tutorial soon.

The interior is just large enough for you to fill with imaginative furnishings (or we can customize it for you). Notice the two aged leaf green doors and the wonderful vintage wallpapers.

The final fun addition to Birdcage Cottage was the Barn Quilt. It fit perfectly in both design and color.
