 The Christmas Shop 2022

The Christmas Shop was created in memory of my Grandmother who was an artist in floral décor.  In her flower shop, she created decorations for many of the Hotels in Las Vegas which was her home.  She had a small building on their 12th street property, which she named Loree’s Flower Basket and I spent many fascinating hours watching her detail her creations.

In this Christmas Shop, our decorator has a penchant for wreaths but also for Tiny Putz Houses which were made popular in the 30’s – 50’s.  Most Putz Houses were imported from Germany and Japan but they grew in such popularity that here at home making the glittery Putz Houses was quite the rage.  The houses in the central display cabinet of our shop are each brightly lighted.  Look closely and you will also see tiny trees, snowmen, and the tiniest red sled you will ever see.

As I said above, our artist loves creating unique wreaths.  In the front window, you will find one with vintage toy white metal ice skates. In fact, she is currently working on one at her table.  All of her tools are laid before her, scissors, a handmade palette of wire and spools of ribbon in festive colors and other accouterments.  Which will she choose for this next wreath?

Mantle arrangements are also a fondness.  Notice the one on her (handmade) fireplace with (handmade lighted)candles.  Bright red stockings are waiting to be filled and you can also find a basket of these sitting on the shop floor just eager to be purchased.

Lifelike vintage Santas look out frosted windows at all passers-by encouraging them to come in and see the delights they can purchase for their own homes.

And finally, a lighted, candy cane and red ornament-decorated Christmas tree stands vigil at the front door where you will also see handmade ornaments displayed for the customer to choose from.

All days come to an end and our decorator can conveniently retire to her upstairs loft.  She has decorated her personal space with rose trimmed tree and a fun snowman.  A bitty lamp casts a glow on her handmade bed and linens, including several handmade pillows and a very special handmade Redbird petit point pillow. Kitty sits in a basket watching her select Holiday cards from her handmade Holiday portfolio which she will send to family and friends.  As she retires under her comfy fleece comforter, I’m sure she is dreaming of tomorrow’s creations.

From all of us to all of you....... Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
